Health

NAMM’s health programme is focusing on improving reproductive, maternal and child health aspects. The Health and Nutrition programme approach includes direct health care services, mobilizing stakeholders and communities for change in knowledge, attitude and practices as well as building capacities and providing hand holding support to local service providers. The following are the key intervention areas of NAMM under the Health and Nutrition thematic.

  • Organizing medical camps in remote tribal villages through a mobile medical unit and a team of medical practitioners.
  • Organizing special campaigns such as National Nutrition Week, Breast Feeding Week, Hand Washing Day for creating awareness and changing practices.
  • Capacity building of ICDS workers, ASHA, Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Committees.
  • Identification and support to SAM (Severe and Acute Malnutrition) Children .
  • Home visits and counselling to Pregnant and Lactating mothers and especially to the high risk mothers.
  • Promotion of nutrition garden at the household and institution level.
  • Linking households with food security and other government schemes.
